  • Micah’s Bold Declarations

Micah 7:7 “Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.”

During the dark and difficult days, Micah makes 3 bold declarations regarding his relationship with God.  First, he declares that he will look to the Lord.  This declaration to look to the Lord reminds us of Psalm 121:1-2 as the Psalmist says, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills. From whence comes my help? 2  My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

Who are you looking to in dark and difficult days?

Second, he declares he will wait for the Lord.  To wait is to be patient and allow God to work.  Seeing the word wait reminds us of Isaiah 40:31. Recall it says, “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

With his 2 declarations of  “I will” he now makes the boldest declaration of all in stating that God will hear him!
Micah had a tremendous conviction about God with a tremendous confidence in God.
Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)

Look up to God who listens! Wait on god who works!

If you want to be delivered – look up!  Look up, my brother, look up to the Lord.

  • Verse to DATE the Word on July 7 (7/7) is Micah 7:7

“Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of
my salvation; My God will hear me.” – Micah 7:7
    A Bold Declaration

Life is not looking very good for Micah as wickedness is rampant.  As he considers all who have turned away from following the Lord, he makes a bold declaration in Micah 7:7 with two “I will” statements.  These two “I will” statements will set Micah apart and when we make these two “I will” statements we will be very different from those around us.

The first “I will” is a decision to WHOM he will look to and for Micah, there is only one to look to and that is the LORD!  Maybe he recalls the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 121:1-2 which declares “I will lift up my eyes to the hills — From whence comes my help? 2  My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.”

If you want to be distracted – look around
If you want to be discouraged – look to others
If you want to be delivered – LOOK UP!

Micah is choosing to LOOK UP!  He is looking to the one who is able to handle anything.  His resume has on it that He CREATED the heavens and the earth.  This is WHO Micah is looking to for help.

The second “I will” is to WAIT.  Oh, what a horrible, horrible four-letter word.  I hate to WAIT.  I have a feeling many of you reading this can say the same thing.  While we may be able to quote Isaiah 40:31 with its great promise to those who wait we (at least me) still do not like to WAIT,  BTW – in case you need to be reminded Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

Micah understands that his dire situation demanded looking to God and then waiting on God to work.  He knows that God WILL hear him.  He knows God will work.

I am not sure what TROUBLE you are facing today.  Micah 7:7 is a great verse to grab hold of and activate.  LOOK UP to GOD who LISTENS!  WAIT on God who WORKS!

To go along with Micah 7:7 there is Matthew 7:7. Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
