  • Sent To Save

John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
As Jesus explains to Nicodemus that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16) He follows that up with the reason He was sent in verse 17. He was sent to save. Let that sink in. He was sent to save. We only have to look at the beginning of the verse to see how surprising, yes alarming, stunning is His purpose for one would surely believe He was sent to condemn and destroy the world. God DID NOT – read it again – God DID NOT send His Son into the World to CONDEMN the World.

The bottom-line purpose for being sent was to SAVE. God loved everyone everywhere, so He GAVE His Son to SAVE everyone everywhere.

Need more Scriptural proof that was sent to save?
Matthew 1:21 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.
Luke 9:56 “For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”
Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

As we move toward Easter I remind you that Jesus faced tremendous temptations as He hung on the cross. Those walking by as well as the religious leaders called on Him to save Himself. Mark 15:30 “Save Yourself, and come down from the cross! 31 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save.”
Luke 23:35 And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”
Luke 23:37 “And saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”
Luke 23:39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

Friends, Jesus stayed on the cross so He could save you!

The window for a person to be saved is open. If you have not been saved today is the day of salvation. If you are saved you are God’s ambassador to the world to tell others how to be saved. The people of the world need to know God sent His Son, sent and GAVE His Son so He could SAVE them.

  • The Golden Rule for a Believer’s Actions

Colossians 3:17  “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Like 1 Corinthians 10:31 where we are taught “whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, (we are to) do all to the glory of God” Colossians 3:17 teaches whatever we do we do for the Lord! Some have called this the Golden Rule for the Believer’s Behavior.

Do you have the mindset? Do you have the mindset that no matter what you are involved in it is to be being done for God and for His glory? Whether it is work or play, activities with family, friends, neighbors, or strangers, whatever it is that you are doing is to be done for God and His glory.

It may be possible you need a little help here to get to this place so I would encourage you to pray a prayer from Psalms – Psalm 19:14.  It says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.”

May we today do all – everything – doing whatever we do and say be for God and for His glory!!

    A March to Remember

For March 17, let us remember Hebrews 2:17. Hebrews 2:17 says, “Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”

To represent man the Messiah had to become a man.  In becoming a man and then taking our sins upon Him (as He did no sin) He took all the wrath of God that God had for our sins.  Jesus is the wrath absorber.

On March 17 we encourage you to read Matthew 17 and John 17 to recall our Lord’s transfiguration and to read His prayer in John 17.
