“And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.” – Genesis 7:5
Our verse to DATE the Word on July 5 (7/5) is Genesis 7:5. Genesis 7:5 says, “And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.”

A FAITH that WENT TO WORK

It has been said there are three types of people.  Some people wonder what happened.  Some people watch others make things happen and then there are those people who work and make things happen.   Which one are you?   Noah worked and made things happen!

Without a doubt, Noah is one of the great people of FAITH.  God gave Noah instructions to build an ark (massive boat/ship) as it was going to start raining and the earth was going to be flooded. Noah, having never seen an ark, much less build one, or rain or a flood moved forward by faith and obeyed God, doing exactly what God said.  The Hall of Faith writer included Noah in his list because of this action. Take a quick look at Hebrews 11:7. Hebrews 11:7 says, “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”

While there was vile wickedness all around the world God saw Noah.  Upon assigning Noah with the building of an ark God saw working by faith!  God saw Noah obeying all that He commanded him to do!  He saw Noah making things happen!  While it took time to complete Noah never stopped.  By faith, he and his family were saved as the rain came and flooded the earth.

Today you may be working on something BY FAITH and so far, you are not seeing anything come of the work.  Keep on WORKING BY FAITH! Keep obeying God by FAITH. Remember that you will reap in due season!  Keep sowing the seeds of the gospel!!  Keep planting God’s Word in people’s hearts!  Keep on WORKING BY FAITH!!

Verse to DATE the Word on July 5 (7/5) is Genesis 7:5. It says, “And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.”

Let us quit wondering what is happening and quit watching what is happening and start working by faith to make things happen!

BTW – Doors of opportunity swing on the hinges of obedience.

    Continue Strong WORKING by FAITH,
And remember to DATE the Word
  • Verse to DATE the Word on February 24 (2/24) is Genesis 2:24

Verse to DATE the Word on February 24 (2/24) is Genesis 2:24

Our verse to DATE the Word on February 24 (2/24) is Genesis 2:24

Genesis 2:24 says, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
God’s Marriage Math is ONE plus ONE equals ONE!

Our verse to DATE come from Genesis, the FIRST book of the Bible, and is part of the 2nd chapter that tells the CREATION story.  Interestingly we have within the story of creation God INSTRUCTIONS of the INSTITUTION of the FAMILY.  Listen, from the very beginning of what we would call time, we have had the institution of the family.  Before there was any government and before there was the institution of the church, we have the family

Unbelievably, we now live in a country that struggles to define what a family is.  So that we do KNOW what a family is Genesis 2:24 will give you the key people of a family.  There is a man and a woman.  The man will become a husband and the woman will be a wife.  As husband and wife, they (most likely) have a child and maybe even children so now the man is not just a husband but a father and the woman is not just a wife but a mother.  If the child is a male he will have the title of son and if the child is a female she will have the title of daughter.  If they have more than one child and it is a male, the males have the title of brother, and if it is a female, the females have the title of sister.

We have a man (male) and a woman (female) who now have the title husband and wife, and with child(ren) they add the title of father and mother with the male child known as a son and/or the female child known as a daughter.  If there are more boys they get the added title of brother from the other child(ren) and if there are more girls they get the added title of sister from the other child(ren)

Now the child will grow and one day will marry.  The man will leave his father and mother and be joined to someone else’s daughter, and he will be her husband and she will be his wife.  They then (most likely) will have a child or children and the parents (the father and mother of the man and the father and the mother of the wife) will be grandparents with the male being titled with grandfather and the female as a grandmother.

In addition, the Bible will have as part of a family an uncle and an aunt with the male being an uncle and the female being an aunt.  There is the title also of cousin, which can be used for both one who is male and one who is female.

Each of the words I used is spread through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.  We do not have to be confused about what a family is.  We, as well, do not need to be confused about what EACH member’s role and responsibilities are.  When it comes to what a husband and a wife, what a father and mother, and what a child(ren) are to do, God gives clear instructions for each. These instructions should be learned and implemented by each individual!

From our verse to DATE, we have clear instructions for the HUSBAND and the WIFE as they become a new family unit. From one family comes a man and from another family comes a woman. God says they are to LEAVE. Each one is to LEAVE their mother and father.  The new family unit starts with LEAVING their present family unit.

As HUSBAND and WIFE, they are to CLEAVE to each other. They are to be JOINED AS ONE. Many Biblical scholars will say from this component of LEAVING AND CLEAVING marriage is the preeminent relationship!

This also is to be a permanent relationship as the husband and wife are to be one flesh. At a wedding ceremony, a couple will commit – pledge – covenant to be joined together until death separates them. Jesus stated in Mark 10:9 “Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

As we consider these instructions we conclude (not unique to me) that God’s math is one plus one equals one.

BTW – I consider Genesis 2:24 (repeated by Jesus in Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9 and Paul in Ephesians 5:31) and Ephesians 5:33 to be the most important teaching for marriage. Genesis 2:24 teaches LEAVE AND CLEAVE while Ephesians 5:33 teaches the husband to Pay ATTENTION to his wife and the wife to give ADMIRATION to her husband.  Following God’s instructions for marriage will bring about an enjoyable and enduring marriage!

  • Verse to DATE the Word on January 31 (1/31) is Genesis 1:31

Verse to DATE the Word on January 31 (1/31) is Genesis 1:31

Our verse to DATE the Word on January 31 (1/31) is Genesis 1:31
Genesis 1:31 “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So, the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”
    INDEED, it was VERY GOOD!

Genesis 1:1 informs us that “In the beginning GOD CREATED.”  As He created, He EVALUATED His creation, His work.  In verses 4, 10, 12, 18, 21, and 25 we read His evaluation of His daily creation as “it was good.” However, with the evaluation of day 6 in which He creates man and woman and breathes into them we get an evaluation of “INDEED it was VERY GOOD.”

Let us take a moment to evaluate God’s 6th-day evaluation.  Why did He give a much higher review? What brought about more than an evaluation of it was good to INDEED IT WAS VERY GOOD?  Many who evaluate God’s evaluation, believe the difference comes because of the creation of the man and the woman.

You might ask what makes the creation of man and woman so different?  What makes the creation of humans so special to God?  Let’s take a moment and read the following for an answer.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in OUR IMAGE, according to OUR LIKENESS; let them have DOMINION over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in His OWN image; in the IMAGE of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God BLESSED them, and God SAID to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The words emphasized speak of the difference! We, humans, are made in the likeness – the very IMAGE – of God.  And with the creation of man and woman, we have God SPEAKING to His creation. From the very beginning, God had a special and unique RELATIONSHIP with mankind!  Thus comes the evaluation of INDEED it was VERY good.

What might we take away from God’s elevated evaluation after the creation of man and woman? We should take away the incredible value and dignity that God has placed on mankind.  EVERY HUMAN IS TO BE VIEW WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT as EVERY human was created by God and created for fellowship.  Even with the fellowship broken because of sin God still wants to see every human reconciled back to Him.  His love for mankind extended all the way to a place called CALVARY where His very own Son died for all humans and wants all to be reconciled.   We who now know Him personally and have a relationship with Him are to be telling others that God so loves them and that He wants them to be reconciled to Him.

Verse to DATE the Word on January 31 (1/31) is Genesis 1:31. It says, “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So, the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

Friend, you are one of God’s special creations, as is every human.   More than “it was good” the creation of man and woman brought “INDEED it was VERY GOOD!”

    Continue Strong,

  • Verse to DATE the Word on January 1 (1/1) is Genesis 1:1

Our verse to DATE the Word on January 1 (1/1) is Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
    IT ALL BEGINS WITH GOD!

Genesis 1:1 is the beginning verse of our Bible, and it clearly tells us first and foremost there is GOD. Only a fool can say in their heart that there is no God.  From Genesis 1:1 there is GOD.  And everything there exist begins with GOD.  He is working.  He is CREATING the heavens and the earth.

Pause and ponder that. God created the HEAVENS and the EARTH.

I am not sure what you have seen that is man-made that you would label IMPRESSIVE, maybe a building or bridges, paintings, etc. but no one has done anything as IMPRESSIVE as the creation of the heavens and the earth.  He created the oceans, rivers, seas, and mountains.  He created the sun, the stars, and the planets.  He created animals and flowers and trees.  He created it ALL!  INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE!  INCREDIBLY POWERFUL!  As the psalmist wanted to give a solid reason for looking to God when needing help he said “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2  My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

In Genesis 1 the story of creation will continue until there is the creation of man and then woman. As God evaluated the sixth day. in which He created man and woman, He said it was VERY GOOD.  I encourage you on this first day of the New Year to not only consider Gen. 1:1 but read the entire chapter of Genesis 1.

How might we respond to Genesis 1:1?  While it surely is a fact that answers the huge question of where this world and we humans come from, Revelation 4:11 gives us the answer for how to respond to God, the creator.  Revelation 4:11 says, “You are WORTHY, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”

The answer to how to respond to Genesis 1:1 is to worship the CREATOR!  Revelation 4:11 is a doxology, a doxology of PRAISE to GOD. YOU were created to WORSHIP GOD!

As we begin a new year let us remember how it all began with GOD, and let us worship our CREATOR and, yes our REDEEMER!  A phrase I like to say is “Worthy is the Lamb!”

Verse to DATE the Word on January 1 (1/1) is Genesis 1:1. It says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Happy NEW YEAR!  May you enjoy a blessed new year being a BLESSING!
