  • Verse to DATE the Word on November 27 (11/27) is Hebrews 11:27

    “By faith Moses forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king;
for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.” – Hebrews 11:27
    FAITH CONQUERS ALL FEARS

This is one of my favorite statements in the Hall of Faith list as MOSES was not AFRAID of an earthly king (who happened to be one of the most powerful of all time at that time) because – BECAUSE – he had His eyes clearly set on God – described here as INVISIBLE!

Comparing the powerful earthly king to the ALL POWERFUL CREATOR of the universe caused Moses’ fear to disappear!!

FAITH conquers FEAR!!!  Moses moves forward fearlessly by faith forsaking Egypt!  He endured or persevered, never looking back because by faith his eyes were fixed on the Invisible!

As we consider faith, specifically the faith of Moses, we conclude that faith sees the INVISIBLE hand of God.  Faith sees the INVISIBLE heart of God! FAITH SEES THE INVISIBLE WHO IS ABLE TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!

FAITH SEES THE INVISIBLE WHO IS ABLE TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!

May FAITH in GOD conquer all your fears about doing what God has for you!!! May you move forward fearlessly into the future God has for you, walking by FAITH, not sight!

Verse to DATE the Word on November 27 (11/27) is Hebrews 11:27. It says, “By faith Moses forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.”

What fears do you have that require FAITH in GOD to conquer?  I pray for you to see the INVISIBLE who is able to do the impossible with your life!

  • Verse to DATE the Word on June 16 (6/16) is Ephesians 6:16

Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” – Ephesians 6:16
Deploy your FAITH Against All the Devil’s Attacks

Our awesome God has provided – shall we say EQUIPPED us with the exact EQUIPMENT needed for any ENCOUNTER with our ferocious ENEMY (the evil one – the devil) who is seeking to devour us.  This equipment is called the Armor of God.  In Ephesians 6:10, 11, and 13 we are instructed to STAND STRONG and WITHSTAND the devil’s attacks by PUTTING ON the WHOLE ARMOR of GOD.  This means putting on the belt of truth (TRUTH is what holds everything together), the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, along with taking up the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit.

Here in verse 16 of Ephesians 6 Paul tells us to TAKE UP the SHIELD of FAITH.  It will be our FAITH that will overcome the ways of the world that we are tempted to participate in and conform to.  Recall 1 John 5:4 as it says,  “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our FAITH.”

Let us be clear that our walk with God involves warfare. The enemy will attack with temptations. The image here is when a fiery arrow is being shot the soldier holds up/stays behind their shield. The shied will then quench – not just stop – but quench the fiery arrow.

As a temptation is shot, we activate FAITH.  We should know the devil’s ways are to deceive and cause doubt.  His temptations come with the question, “Has God said.”  To handle the temptation calls for FAITH.  Faith is believing God is right.  Faith is believing the TRUTH that God has said!  As faith is activated obedience follows. Obedience is the devil’s “kryptonite.”  He absolutely cannot stay around an obedient believer.  Recall James 4: 7 as it says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil (submit and resist speak of OBEDIENCE) and he will flee from you.” Obedience to God causes the devil to run and hide from you!

Faith quenches the lie – the deception – of the devil.

We do have a great example of this from Jesus.  As He was tempted He did not just quote Scripture to the devil.  As He quoted Scripture back to the devil He was combatting the devil with TRUTH and with FAITH.  He was saying that HE KNEW WHAT GOD HAD SAID and (AND) HE BELIEVED what GOD said over what the devil was saying!

The victories you will experience over temptations will come as you KNOW THE TRUTH and BELIEVE the TRUTH and OBEY THE TRUTH or simply put, you take up the shield of faith!

Dressing for spiritual success means Shields UP!! ACTIVATE FAITH!!

Verse to DATE the Word on June 16 (6/16) is Ephesians 6:16. It says, “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”

  • Verse to DATE the Word on May 7 (5/7) is 2 Corinthians 5:7

Verse to DATE the Word on May 7 (5/7) is 2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”  – 2 Corinthians 5:7
The PLEASING Walk (life) is WALKING BY FAITH

As we think about what would be called the ESSENTIALS of the Christian life, we must put at the top of the list FAITH.  There is FAITH to be saved (Romans 3:28 and Ephesians 2:8) and then there is faith to SERVE.  Regarding serving, Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”  Pleasing God means that we step out in faith to do what He has called us.  Faith will believe that God will do through us what otherwise seems utterly impossible.   Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

Is God asking you to take any steps of faith recently?   Is it a ministry that God wants you to start or to be involved more?  Is it making a financial pledge to help support one of God’s ministries?  Is it sharing Christ with a neighbor or an associate?

May I remind you that if your present situation is demanding more faith you can ask God to increase your faith.   Did you know that the disciples asked the Lord to INCREASE their faith? (Luke 17:5) ASK HIM!!  Just as you would ask for WISDOM (James 1:5) ASK Him to INCREASE YOUR FAITH.

Now a thought on how God will answer your prayer.  If you are serious about your faith being increased, I believe God will direct you to study more in the Bible about WHO HE IS.   Psalm 9:10 says, “Those who know Your name will put their trust in You.”   The more you know about WHO GOD IS the more you will take the steps of FAITH He wants you to take.

I also believe for those of you who truly want to please God and walk by faith you will find yourself drawn to reading over and over Hebrews 11, the Hall of Faith chapter.   As you read the stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary, supernatural things for God you will be inspired to trust God to do what He is asking of you.   It will fuel your faith and you need to fuel and refuel your faith!

Something to ponder is what does it mean to be full of faith?  The Bible says Stephen was full of faith.  (Act 6:5,8)   The Bible says Barnabas was full of faith.  (Acts 11:24)

Verse to DATE the Word on May 7 (5/7) is 2 Corinthians 5:7. It says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

When was the last time you took a step of FAITH?

  • Verse to DATE the Word on May 4 (5/4) is 1 John 5:4

Verse to DATE the Word on May 4 (5/4) is 1 John 5:4

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the
victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” – I John 5:4
One of the areas that we must be victorious over is the world.  Breaking the power of the world in our lives is our FAITH. As believers, we do not walk by sight but by faith! We see the one who is invisible! We see life from an eternal perspective, not a temporal perspective. When we think about the temptations of the world we must remember that the things of the world and its lust will PASS AWAY. Recall that earlier John wrote this admonition in 1 John 2:15 writing, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

The transformed life that is conforming to the image of Christ rather than the world happens as we activate FAITH. We take the step of faith to do, yes to obey, the will of God! When we obey God’s will by faith we will experience victory over the world!

It comes back to the question of whether you are walking by sight or by faith?  Faith believes God is right!

Verse for May 4 (5/4) is 1 John 5:4.  It says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

  • Verse to DATE the Word on March 24 (3/24) is Galatian 3:24

Verse to DATE the Word on March 24 (3/24) is Galatian 3:24

Our verse to DATE the Word on March 24 (3/24) is Galatians 3:24
Galatians 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
     JUSTIFIED BY FAITH

How is a person saved?  This is one question we absolutely do not want to get wrong.  When the Roman jailor in Acts 16:30 asked the Apostle Paul what he must do to be saved Paul answered, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.”

As one looks at the answer one should also “see” what is not in the answer.  He did not say believe and be baptized, though shortly afterward the soldier along with members of his household were baptized.  He did not say to start doing good works and when your good works outweigh your bad works you will be saved.  He did not say to pay a certain amount of money.  He did not say pray a certain number of prayers.  He did not say to start keeping the Old Testament law.  What he did say was BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and you will be saved.

My spiritual upbringing did not answer the question of what must I do to be saved the way the Apostle Paul and Barnabas answered the Roman soldier.  I heard mixed messages about doing good works and keeping the LAW.  It really was not until I was in Bible College that I began to understand WHAT COMES FIRST.  One of the verses that helped me CLEAR up the answer of what must I do to be saved is our verse to date, Galatians 3:24.

As one looks to study the book of Galatians one needs to know the theme is law versus grace.  Our verse to date tells the role of the LAW and how it is used so that we might be saved. Paul does not dismiss the law but rather shows how the law was a tutor to BRING US TO CHRIST.

The law is our TUTOR.  If you are like me, you are probably asking what is a TUTOR.  A tutor is like a guardian or a like trainer. They watch over and prepare the child for the one that will be the teacher or the coach.  The law, as a tutor, shows us our need of a SAVIOR.  It points us to the SAVIOR.  The law does not save.

As Paul explains the role of the law, he once again gives the true answer to how a person is saved and that is by faith.  He states as he did in Romans and as he did earlier in Galatians that a person is JUSTIFIED by FAITH.

You may ask what makes justification by faith so important?  I wish I could have one of my professors, Dr. Paul Fink, give the answer.  He explained it so very well.  He explained to us that in order to go to heaven we had to be as righteous as God and since none of us are righteous as God we all will die and go to hell.  However, Jesus Christ came and lived and was righteous. Justification then comes into play when a person believes by FATIH in Christ alone for salvation. Being justified we are DECLARED righteous by God as there is an exchange.  Christ takes our sins and gives us His righteousness. (2 Cor. 5:21) God now sees us “clothed in CHRIST’S RIGHTEOUSNESS.”  We are now as righteous as God because we have CHRIST’S RIGHTEOUSNESS.”   Having Christ’s righteous means above all that we have PEACE WITH GOD!  (Romans 5:1).  We can now spend all eternity in heaven!

As you ponder on Galatians 3:24 know that you are looking at one of the most important verses for how a person is saved.  Believing or calling on the Lord by faith is first.  After being saved comes keeping His commandments and doing good works.  We don’t do those things to be saved but we do them because we are saved!

Verse to DATE the Word on March 24 (3/24) is Galatians 3:24.  It says, “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.”

May I ask, have you believed, called on, or trusted Jesus Christ by faith and faith alone for salvation?   Works don’t work. Keeping the law does not work. Only by believing in Jesus works!
